Dee and Giles have the most wonderful tower full of brilliant features in the best location. They are the kindest most thoughtful hosts we ever stayed with - whilst also giving us our privacy and freedom to enjoy our visit. They were so understanding of our nervous dog, and the lovely touches of dog bits and bobs is so welcoming.
The tower itself is amazing! Beautiful, cosy and so relaxing. They lit a fire for us to arrive to and we immediately felt relaxed and at home. There are thoughtful touches throughout the whole place and you can tell they care about it and their guests, it's really lovely.
It also has great internet and a lovely shower. There are fun touches throughout and I read the wood used is from the land there, which is very cool. Also the best brownie I have ever had and lovely tea and coffee supplies. A real treasure which I will be telling my friends and family about - for when their kids are moved out!
The local area is beautiful and they let us exercise our dog on their land, which is so kind as she is a nervous rescue and it helps settle her. Can't fault anything about it and loved our stay. We were here for the wobble which was also superb.

Saw a woodpecker on the bird feeder outside the kitchen window! Magical :) the place is a treat
What an incredible stay. Dee and Giles were such lovely hosts. They thought of every little detail and the property was so beautiful and cosy. We regularly stay away and this was by far our favourite stay yet. If you’re looking for a Cameron Diaz escape like in ‘the holiday’… away from all the madness this is definitely it.
Just arrived back home in East Yorkshire after a very relaxing stay in Dee and Giles lovely quirky place.
It was all perfect for me. The area, the house, the check in. Dee is very helpful and kept me up to date with things I needed to know and I knew help would be there if I needed it, very important as a female solo traveller, but I was left with my privacy, which is just as important to me.
The house was warm, cosy and wind proof! I know this because it was very windy and a tad wet, which didn’t detract from any of it.
I would very happily stay here again which is quite an accolade as that is very rare for me to return to a place for another stay.

We’re a couple who live our lives by following the road less travelled. If you follow your sat-nav directions to Tŵr-Ffoledd, you will certainly do that. Follow Dee and Giles’ directions, not to do so will be folly. Talking of which; Tŵr-Ffoledd is a glorious example of an architectural folly, as defined by OED.
We love it, quirky and unconventional. If you’re looking for corporate predictability, you’re going to be disappointed. If you’re looking for amazing creativity, imaginative use of space and materials, a location to die for, views to inspire and hosts with a genuine appreciation of life and how to live it; you’ll be heading to your home from home.
I could say more, but I’ll leave that to you, the reader. Have fun, we did!
Tips for other travellers
If you can, bring food in an ice-box, there are shops nearby, but they have limited ranges. That said, the big supermarkets are not far away, in the larger towns. The fridge at Tŵr-Ffoledd is very small.
There are loads of pubs and restaurants for food, most are dog friendly, we didn't get a chance to visit them (only there two nights), but your hosts will point you the way.
The spa at the local Lake Country Hotel is a must, if that's your thing.
Tŵr-Ffoledd is great place to read or to write (top floor), or just chill. Great internet and wi-fi, if you want to stay in touch with the outside world? If not; just switch it off!
Bring your walking boots and your walking poles if you've got-'em!
HOST'S NOTE:-We've now added a Cooler Box for additional food or drink storage.
Dee and Giles were more than perfect hosts. The tower was refurbished by Giles and was bloody awesome. So so many things to discover and spot in the place from the shovel shaped teaspoons to the bottle of alcohol hidden in the clock. We lit the fire and got meat from local butcher and ate in to celebrate our anniversary. Only wish we could have stayed longer.
The cottage was immaculate and provided everything you could want for short stay in beautiful surroundings. The kitchenette is well equipped and was suitable for preparing simple meals.
Dee provided excellent instructions and although the property is in a remote location, I used What Three Words to find it rather than the postcode which was perfect.
Both Dee and Giles were wonderfully welcoming and I would definitely recommend it to anyone thinking of staying in the vacinity.
Cannot speak highly enough of how beautiful this place is, each room was unique and quirky and felt cosy with the log fire going in the evenings, Dee and Giles perfectly gracious hosts, always felt they were there if we needed but still felt like we had the whole farm to ourselves. Incredible surroundings with lots of nature and lovely birds, plenty to do and see in the Elan Valley. We will definitely be recommending to friends and family and hopefully returning ourselves. I had a wonderful weekend staying at Twr-Ffoledd. The tower was absolutely beautiful, such an interesting and cozy space full of interesting details. I kept spotting more and more clever features in the construction and decor the longer I was there. The location was very rural and so quiet and peaceful. Sitting outside in the evening you are met with absolute silence, only broken by the occasional owl or sheep. Not something I ever experience back home.
Dee had provided some great recommendations for walks and restaurants which was really handy. The WiFi worked well for me and my phone had good coverage too.
I brought my dog Boots and we were both met biscuits on arrival!
My partner and I had a lovely stay! Dee and Giles were on hand to answer any questions we had and the space was perfect for what we wanted. A really nice peaceful get away, we will definitely be back!
We had a beautiful stay here, we had our two dogs who loved it too. Dee and Giles were so welcoming and accommodating, gorgeous views and the place itself was lovely. Would definitely recommend and will be back again! Thank you so much both!
One of the best places we've stayed, we loved the tower and the location! The hosts were really helpful and incredibly thoughtful, we would highly recommend a visit!
Our Easter bank holiday stay at Dee’s place was a delightful experience! The cottage ‘tower’, is thoughtfully designed and filled with lovely touches that made us feel right at home.
We were pleasantly surprised by how well-stocked the kitchenette was—it had everything we needed and more! Communication with our host, Dee, was seamless; she was very friendly and quick to respond to any inquiries we had.
As the first guests to stay here, we were greeted with the sweetest welcome—delicious cakes and a bottle of sparkling wine, which was a nice touch.
The location of the cottage was also beautiful and very peaceful. For those keen on exploring, Brecon Beacon is just an hour’s drive away, offering extensive walking trails. However, we also discovered several lovely local walks that allowed us to appreciate the nearby scenery.
Our stay was wonderful and I would recommend it!
