The literal English translation of Tŵr-Ffoledd is "Tower of Folly". We think that's a pretty accurate description given its dramatic tall outline and the unusual and eccentric features found in the interior. It's a peaceful but quirky, holiday retreat set on our 13 acre smallholding in beautiful Mid Wales close to Llangammarch Wells, Llanwrtyd Wells and Builth Wells.
It caters for a couple (one double bed) who are looking for an unusual place to stay in a rural and tranquil place. We're dog friendly too, so you can bring your well behaved pet with you.
When we first moved to our smallholding, nearly 40 years ago, Tŵr-Ffoledd was a tin roofed lean-to shed attached to our barn. It's slowly morphed over the following years into its current form. Wood sourced from our land has been used throughout the building, together with other reclaimed materials.
Today, it's now a cosy and comfortable retreat for romantic breaks, or just to enjoy all the area has to offer to nature lovers, walkers, cyclists and horse riders.
The accommodation is arranged over 3 floors. The entrance doors were reclaimed from an old church and the ground floor has an open plan living room and kitchen area. Upstairs is a double bedroom with ensuite shower room. The third floor, accessed by steep steps from the bedroom, (not for anyone with limited mobility}, is a light filled room which is equally suited for relaxation or as a work space.
