The literal English translation of Tŵr-Ffoledd is "Tower of Folly". We think that's a pretty accurate description given its dramatic tall outline and the unusual and eccentric features found in the interior. It's a peaceful, but quirky, holiday retreat set on our 13 acre smallholding in beautiful Mid Wales close to Llangammarch Wells, Llanwrtyd Wells and Builth Wells.
It caters for a couple who are looking for an unusual place to stay in a rural and tranquil place. We're dog friendly too, so you can bring your well behaved pet with you (max. 2 dogs).
Please note that the property is not suitable for anyone with mobility issues.
When we first moved to our smallholding, nearly 40 years ago, Tŵr-Ffoledd was a tin roofed lean-to shed attached to our barn. It's slowly morphed over the following years into its current form. Wood sourced from our land has been used throughout the building, together with other reclaimed materials.
Today, it's now a cosy and comfortable retreat where nature lovers, walkers, cyclists, horse riders or anyone looking for a peaceful get away in beautiful countryside, can enjoy all the area has to offer.
The ground floor is open plan with living, dining and a small kitchen area with kettle, microwave, air fryer, single hob, slow cooker and toaster. Upstairs is an ensuite double bedroom with french doors opening onto a balcony for you to admire the rural views, or relax with a glass of wine. The top floor, accessed by steep loft type steps from the bedroom, (not for anyone with limited mobility), is a light filled room which is equally suited for relaxation or as a work space.
